“花城”指广州市的别称，“乡味”有两层含义，一是指我对我的出生地“家乡”的感受，二是指地点，即广州这个城市的乡村、乡下城郊等地区。
我在广州出生，生活三十余载，对于广州市区再熟悉不过。但，其实广州这座城市从地图上看“城区”只占了非常少的一部分，这里有一大片区域是发展中或者说是乡村、城乡结合等存在；而这些地方对我而言是陌生的也是值得被探索的。我希望通过本次的拍摄创作，从独特视觉出发，给观者呈现出广州另一面区别于大都市的“乡味”形象。这些地方虽然没有市区的繁华，但这种“乡村”生活方式有种特别的温柔魅力，甚至由远方而来的人们也能完美兼容这种“乡味”的生活方式。
最后本作以广州这个城市为样本，揭示了我国大部分地区城市发展的相同情况，城市或许是体现经济发展的丰碑，但“乡味”是我们的文化根源。
