宝顶山位于大足区龙岗镇东北的宝顶镇，海拔527.83米，距大足区东北15千米。名僧赵智凤于此建石窟寺，历时70余年建成。宝顶山是佛教圣地之一，有"上朝峨嵋，下朝宝顶"之说。宝顶山石刻造像以大佛湾为中心，东有小佛湾、倒塔、龙头山、殊始山、黄桷坡，南有高观音，西有广大山、松林坡、佛祖岩，北有岩湾、龙潭、对面佛等，共13处景观。其中以大佛湾石刻造像规模最大，艺术价值最高，保存最完好。
