攝影師Bill Ellis的系列影像作品，反思了通勤途中的孤獨感。Ellis透過自畫像和周圍的風景記錄自己的生活，他的作品如同視覺日記，每一張照片都展現了他不斷變化的自我認知以及構成他世界的人際關係。
在攝影集《通勤者》中，Ellis記錄了一段時期：由於異地戀情，他不得不往返於紐約市和賓夕法尼亞州的鄉村之間，同時還要兼任送貨司機。通勤對他而言比“家”更熟悉。他對紐約的印像不再是固定的地點，而更像是“匆匆掠過的建築立面”。賓州的自然景觀也變得同樣“模糊不清，難以觸及”。而穿梭於這一切之中的，正是Ellis，在這個不等人的世界裡，他脆弱的存在感令人動容。
